Over 3.2 million Just Eat dublinbike journeys have been registered to date this year. Representing 12.8% of the total number of trips on record since the scheme began, this figure is aligned with the continuous growth in the number of cyclists on the road, now making up over 14% of all traffic in the City Centre.
Celebrating with Richard Millwood, who took the 25 millionth journey on a Just Eat dublinbike from Pearse Street, Lord Mayor of Dublin Nial Ring said “Today is a fantastic milestone for the Just Eat dublinbikes scheme as we celebrate 25 million journeys. The scheme has been one of the most successful bike sharing schemes in the world since it was launched in 2009. There has been a huge increase in the number of cyclists on the city streets (including me!) since the scheme was launched and there is no doubt it has been an important catalyst for this increase. I would like to congratulate Richard who took the 25 millionth journey and to everyone involved in providing this sustainable form of public transport for the capital."
With 1,600 Just East dublinbikes now available across 115 stations in Dublin, Just Eat Ireland Managing Director Amanda Roche-Kelly continued; “Just Eat is delighted to be part of today's landmark celebration for Just Eat dublinbikes. 25 million journeys is testament to the popularity of the Just Eat dublinbikes scheme itself and of cycling in general, as a convenient and healthy way to navigate the streets of Dublin. Reflective of trends in the food industry, customers and commuters alike are demanding choice and ease of use, with Just Eat dublinbikes feeding the appetite of a growing number of hungry commuters right across the city centre.
Joanne Grant, Managing Director JCDecaux Ireland went on to say; “JCDecaux are extremely proud of the positive impact that Just Eat dublinbikes has on the daily life of so many Dubliners and visitors to the city. It has been 9 years since the scheme launched and reaching 25 million journeys in that time period is a huge achievement, one that is testament to the dedication of our hardworking team and the successful collaboration we have with Dublin City Council and our commercial partners Just Eat.”
