Dublin's hugely successful bike share rental scheme was introduced in September 2009 and has gone on to become one of the most succesful bike share rental schemes in the world. NOW dublinbikes are a key element in JCDecaux's contract with Dublin City Council to enhance the urban environment and provide services to the city. Over the years the scheme has undergone a number of expansions and there are now 118 stations and 1,600 bikes. NOW launched as dublinbikes' commercial partner in January 2021 and in March 2021 'e-dublinbikes' were introduced with half the fleet being upgraded to hybrid electric bikes.
