Corporate Responsibility - Environmental Awareness

1. JCDecaux Ireland Support of Charities
2. JCDecaux Ireland contribution to the Arts
3. Environmental Awareness

In order to satisfy the need for selectively sorted waste, JCDecaux created street furniture equipped with specific bins: Citylight panels fitted with recycling bins for batteries, containers to recover old glass or paper included in, or attached to, bus shelters, etc. More than 6,000 pieces of street furniture with selective recycling bins have been installed in Europe.

Due to the increasing global concern regarding environmental awareness JCDecaux is committed to fundamental improvements in environmental management. We ensure all our decisions take into account the long term consequences they may have on the environment.

JCDecaux is delighted to be in partnership with Energia. Using new energy efficient technology to power some of our advertising displays enables us to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases.

Besides continuously adhering to environmental laws and regulations, JCDecaux's control of industrial waste is a chief priority. In Ireland, our offices in Dublin and Belfast use non-polluting, recycled materials or biodegradable products for the production, maintenance and installation of our products. Through the services of a Dublin based waste management company 'Hannay', we ensure 100% of our raw material's waste- principally cardboard and paper- is consistently recycled. In addition any hazardous substances we use such as paint, are disposed of in a safe and environmentally friendly manner. Working with a company called DLOK we use an electrical scheme that ensures our used machinery is disposed of safely without causing harm to the environment.

Throughout the world, JCDecaux endeavours to further integrate, enhance and protect the environment by analysing the layout of cities before installation of our advertising displays and street furniture. Designed by award winning architects such as Lord Norman Foster, Mario Bellini, Philip Cox and Robert Stern, suitable furniture is chosen to complement the heritage and architecture of the area. In Ireland JCDecaux works in partnership with various local interest groups such as Tidy Town Committees throughout the country, ensuring our advertising displays are always in excellent condition.

We install high quality lit scrolling advertising displays and prismatic units which offer the advantage of avoiding exponential growth in the number of billboards in our cities and suburbs.
